Glutathione

Glutathione is a tripeptide compound formed by the condensation of glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine through peptide bonds. It is the most important low molecular weight thiol for antioxidant stress in mammalian cells. Discovered in 1921 and its chemical structure determined in 1930, Dr. Al Mindell, a renowned American nutritionist and health expert, called glutathione a triple effective anti-aging amino acid and also known as nature's antioxidant master. It appears as a colorless, transparent, slender granular crystal, soluble in water, dilute alcohol, liquid ammonia, and dimethylformamide, but insoluble in ethanol, ether, and acetone.

Glutathione is a powerful compound with multifaceted functions, including antioxidant activity, scavenging of free radicals, detoxification, immune system enhancement, anti-aging effects, anticancer properties, and protection against radiation hazards. It aids white blood cells in their bactericidal role, prevents the oxidation of vitamins C and E, safeguards against stroke and cataract formation, and plays a crucial role in maintaining liver health.
