SLU-PP-332 peptides

A new drug can mimic the effects of exercise to promote muscle growth, improve physical performance, and potentially treat conditions caused by lack of exercise, such as obesity and muscle atrophy.

This new compound, called SLU-PP-332, activates specific proteins triggered by exercise—estrogen-related receptors (ERRs). In experiments with mice, researchers found that the drug not only improved the mice's endurance performance on a treadmill but also increased the number of fatigue-resistant muscle fibers in their bodies. It can activate specific proteins triggered by exercise, namely estrogen-related receptors, thereby triggering metabolic changes in muscles.

"For people facing muscle loss due to age, illness, or medication use, this 'exercise pill' could be extremely beneficial, helping to mimic or enhance the effects of exercise and improve their quality of life."
