SLU-PP-332

This new drug, named SLU-PP-332, activates specific proteins triggered by exercise—estrogen-related receptors (ERRs). In experiments on mice, researchers found that the drug not only improved the mice's endurance performance on a treadmill but also increased the number of fatigue-resistant muscle fibers in their bodies. It activates specific proteins triggered by exercise, namely estrogen-related receptors, thereby triggering metabolic changes in muscles.

The study's lead author, Baha Ergendi, professor of anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, stated in a video presentation, "This 'exercise pill' could be incredibly beneficial for people facing muscle loss due to age, illness, or medication use, helping to mimic or enhance the effects of exercise and improve their quality of life."
